Julie Eisenhower
Julie Eisenhower's campaign activities in the Presidential elections of 1968 and 1972 were extensive. She campaigned in over thirty states in both election years, meeting with members of state and national press corps, local candidates, and volunteers.
During the Nixon Administration, Julie Eisenhower traveled across the country, representing the White House primarily on behalf of children's issues, the environment, and the elderly. Because of her White House activities, she was voted one of the ten most admired women by Good Housekeeping magazine readers in 1974 and 1975.
From 1973 to 1975, Julie worked as Assistant Managing editor of the Saturday Evening Post. During her tenure at the Post, she edited three anthologies: Great Love Stories, Great Westerns, and Great Stories of Mystery and Suspense from the Saturday Evening Post. Julie is also the author of three books: Julie Eisenhower's Cookbook for Children; Special People; and the best-selling Pat Nixon.
In 1987, she was a recipient of the Golden Slipper Award in Philadelphia for community service. In 1991, she was named a Distinguished Daughter of Pennsylvania by Governor Robert Casey.
David Eisenhower
David Eisenhower has written the first volume of what has become a projected trilogy on the life and times of Dwight Eisenhower. In September 1986, Random House published Mr. Eisenhower's Eisenhower: At War. It earned lead reviews in the New York Times and the Washington Post and a three-part review in the New York Review of Books.
Mr. Eisenhower is currently under contract with Random House for the two sequel volumes on the life and times of Dwight Eisenhower. In addition, Eisenhower has contracted with Random House to co-author with his wife a book on the year 1968, which is close to completion.
In recent years, Mr. Eisenhower has lectured widely to Town Halls and university groups under the auspices of The American Program Bureau. He has delivered over 250 lectures and speeches in 35 states, the majority dealing with World War II and "the Mission Oriented Presidency." Mr. Eisenhower has participated in numerous symposia on these topics.
David is also the recipient of seven honorary doctorates and is the recipient of the Golden Slipper Award (Philadelphia) for community service.
Julie and David have three children; Jennie, Alex, and Melanie.
